The PCHS concert band is an ensemble of 9th-12th grade students that perform musical selections to showcase their talents, and enthrall the audience with their musical talents. They perform in the PCHS auditorium for a concert that is free to the public in both Winter and Spring.

They also perform at MPA, (Music Performance Assessment) at a nearby school where they will play 3 rehearsed pieces as well as sight read a piece that is given to them on the spot. They are judged on their performance and given a rating so they can see how well they're doing, and what they need to work on. Often times, they will have a Pre-MPA concert at the PCHS auditorium, were they will play the 3 pieces they have been practicing, to get them prepared for MPA. Guest judges are usually brought in to help judge their performance and give them critics so they can give their best performance at MPA.

During Spring, the concert bands of PQ travel by bus to Virginia where they take part in the Music in our Parks Festival. This concert is held at a school in Virginia, where they will be judged on their performance, in competition with other ensembles in our area. After they perform they will head to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for a day of fun, celebration, and awards. Chaperones are needed for this trip as we have a lot of students attending, and it's a very large park! Keep your eye out for info about signing up to Chaperone. This trip is not free, and prices are determined yearly. Usually the pricing is broken down for kids with or without a seasons pass to the park. The students price includes their entry for the concert, a t-shirt, and a meal ticket, and then their ticket to the Park if need be. The Chaperones also have differing prices based on them having a seasons pass or needing to purchase a ticket to enter the Park. The Chaperones price includes a t-shirt, but does not include a meal ticket. Chaperones do not need to pay for the concert at the hosting school. Chaperones will need to drive separately and will need to pay for parking at the Park. (Chaperones are not permitted to ride the bus.) ALL students MUST ride the bus to the concert and then the park. If parents would like to take their child afterwards, they must check out with the Director of their child's school.
